Through my career I have made entrepreneurial decisions moving airports forward.
I have:
Grown Punta Gorda, a General Aviation Airport into an Air carrier Airport with over 1.5 million passengers a year.
Purchased a closed 700,000 SF Piper Aircraft manufacturing facility on 170 acres resulting in Lakeland Airport moving into the black for the first time.
Restored Punta Gorda Airport after a Category 4 hurricane destroyed sixteen buildings.
In 1987 I convinced the FAA to include Lakeland Airport in the Contract Tower Program. Previously, only FAA operated Towers, closed after the PATCO strike, were in the program. Today over 200 locations have been added to the program. Lakeland ATCT was the first!
Every airport has an opportunity to diversify their business. I am a firm believer in market-based solutions.
